Ocean Flyer | CEO Shah Aslam's Keynote Speech at REGENT's Full-Scale Seaglider Unveiling Event
Our CEO Shah Aslam had the honour of delivering a keynote speech at REGENT’s unveiling event of the full-scale seaglider, held at their headquarters in Rhode Island, USA.
Over the past few weeks, we have seen the devastating impacts of the weather in New Zealand. Communities have been disconnected due to flooding, landslides, collapsed bridges, and road closures. Climate change is here. We need bold solutions to reduce our carbon emissions and reach our goals of becoming carbon-neutral, while re-connecting our communities.
At Ocean Flyer, we believe seagliders can play a pivotal role in the sustainable future of transportation.
Seagliders will offer a fast, comfortable and affordable transport option, which is fully sustainable.
The fully-electric nature of seagliders allows for greater efficiencies, and we’re excited for what this means for the future of regional travel in New Zealand. As Shah Aslam put it in his speech, “greater connectivity, generates greater productivity, which generates prosperity”.
The unveiling of the full-scale seaglider is a testament to the years of research and development by Billy Thalheimer, Mike Klinker and the team at REGENT, which brings us one step closer to seeing Ocean Flyer seagliders operating around the coast of Aotearoa.
Congratulations to REGENT on this huge achievement, and we’re excited to be bringing seagliders to the coastlines of New Zealand in just a couple of years!
