Former MP and Cabinet Minister Iain Lees-Galloway has joined Ocean Flyer as Stakeholder Engagement Manager.

Iain’s background in politics and driving social change will be invaluable as Ocean Flyer works to revolutionise the transport industry in Aotearoa New Zealand by introducing all-electric seagliders developed by US aerospace company REGENT to our shores.

“As soon as we met Iain we knew he shared our excitement for using innovative technology to connect communities and secure a carbon neutral future. Ocean Flyer’s vision is to change the way New Zealand thinks about zero-emission travel.

Iain’s perspective and experience will help make our vision a reality. It’s great to have him on board to help us engage with the wide range of stakeholders who are vital to Ocean Flyer successfully fulfilling its mission of providing fast, reliable, affordable transport that reduces carbon emissions" says Ocean Flyer CEO Shah Aslam.

Iain says working within the private sector is a new experience that he is relishing.

“Our Government has an ambition of building a more productive, more sustainable, more inclusive economy. I’m excited to be working with a business that is committed to contributing to that ambition by adding an affordable, reliable, zero-carbon option to our transport network.

We have an amazing partner in REGENT and have already had tremendously positive engagement with the regulator, investors, and partners in New Zealand. Getting seagliders to Aotearoa is a team effort and we are looking forward to growing the team of stakeholders who will support us on this journey,” says Iain Lees-Galloway.
